Fluid Networks The conflicted territories of the Andalien river basin embody the history and also the future of the city of Concepcion and its wider region. The shifting dynamics of these territories represent the subconscious of the city and the focus of our vision is how a recalibration of the relationship between the ecologies of the river basin and human settlement and developments can lead to a mutually sustainable future in more connected and interactive urban water landscapes.
The challenges of balancing fluvial restoration with the fast developing city can be met by shifting from the paradigm of the dialectic of the city and the river to a relational network of new layers and connectivities whereby waterscapes will be developed with new programmes, activities and ecological conditions. Within this multilayered network the city and landscape become players within a broader reciprocal set of relationships.
