Chapter on House X: This is a story of typical London terrace house that happens to have been in the hands of three different generations of architects since the early 1960s. It has proved sufficiently robust and adaptable to accommodate different living conditions and has, in turn, expressed and shaped the owners’ thoughts on architecture and the function of a house: as a safe haven (with submarine doors); as a place to shape global discourses on architectural education and culture; and as a site for architectural production and an archive.
